General information about your abstract

  1. Your abstract must be submitted in English and should include:
    • An English title.
    • A list of authors with their affiliations.
    • The main text of the abstract.
  2. Please use the template file and provide the following details:
    • Contact details of the presenting author, including full mailing address, office phone number, email address, and fax number.
    • Names of the presenting author and co-authors, using first name(s) or initials of first name(s) followed by the family name (e.g. Jason Wong or J. Wong).
    • Affiliation details of authors.
  3. Please send your abstract using the template file as a Word file (.doc or .docx) or PDF file (.pdf) to 2023afos@gmail.com with the title of “AFOS submission: Author’s full name.” (for example: AFOS submission: Jawl-Shan Huang) before the submission deadline (July 31, 2023). Abstract Title & Text

Title

  • The title of the abstract must begin with a capital letter and be followed by lowercase letters.
  • Do not include any abbreviations in the title.

Text

  • Your abstract must not exceed 300 words.
  • Abstracts for original articles should include (1) background, (2) methods, (3) results, and (6) conclusions.
  • Do not include references in the abstract.
  • Abbreviations should be spelled out in parentheses with their first use in the text.

Format

  • The submitting author is responsible for reviewing the format of the submission and avoiding any typing errors.
  • Please use only Times New Roman or Symbol font to avoid character corruption.
  • Italics should be used only when necessary, such as for the name of genus and species.
  • You can choose the preferred presentation style (poster or oral presentation). The scientific committee will review abstracts and make final decision.
  • Authors of selected abstracts will be notified by email before August 31, 2023.

AFOS 2023 awards

AFOS recognizes the hard work that our members and attendees put in to submit their research to the Annual Meeting. Therefore, outstanding Oral/Poster presentations will be awarded at the Closing Ceremony. The evaluation process for award to the AFOS is based on the following judging criteria: originality, novelty, comprehensiveness, and clinical importance/relevance.

Award Categories

  1. Presidential Award: 3 awards for the best oral presentation with contribution to advance current knowledge.
  2. Best Young Investigator Award: 3 awards for best oral presentation of young investigator. The presenting author must be under 40 years old. (born after Oct 13, 1983)
  3. Best Clinical Research Poster Award: 3 awards for best poster presentation.
  4. Best Epidemiology Poster Award: 3 awards for best poster presentation.
  5. Best Basic Research Poster Award: 1 to 3 awards for best poster presentation.

Note:

Domestic and international abstracts are equally qualified for the awards.

Evaluation will take place during oral/poster presentations, and the results will be officially notified during the Closing Ceremony.
